Aftercare Instructions
Proper aftercare is essential to ensure your new tattoo heals correctly, especially in the first two weeks. Take care of your new forever friend and it’ll stay fresh longer. I will always wrap you up after our tattoo appointment, no matter how big or small the piece may be. Personally, I prefer to use second skin, If you have any adhesive allergies let me know!
Second Skin
Once the bandage is on, you don’t have to do anything with it for the next 3-7 days as long as it’s fully sealed. It will get icky, but that’s a part of the process. Just avoid soaking it, excessive sweating, and our crispy Florida sun. If it does open up or you get red bumps around the bandage just take it off, if you have a spare bandage you may replace it up to 36 hrs from the original bandage time. Just make sure you are extremely clean about it and don’t trap any bacteria in there. Once you’re ready to take it off, make sure you do so in the shower. Take a hot shower and towards the end of it you wanna peel off the bandage. Pull a corner along your skin, like a command strip. Don’t pull away from the skin. Tug on it, take your time, if it hurts just run it under water a little longer. Once you get it off gently wash it with unscented soap, I recommend Dial Gold or Clean and Gentle in liquid form. Let it air dry or dab with a paper towel, make sure your hands are clean and apply a small amount of healing ointment for the first two weeks. I use Hustle Butter, if you’re allergic to mangos do not use it. You want to wash it and moisturize it twice a day for the two weeks. After the two weeks are over lotion forever, and use sunscreen once your tattoo fully heals every time you go out in the sun.
